I started How to Clean Something because homes create an almost ridiculous number of questions.
How do you clean this?
Can you paint that?
Will this IKEA hack actually hold together?
Is this cleaning trick safe?
How do you make a small room work?
Do you really need another storage bin?
Can this piece of furniture be saved?
Sometimes the answer is simple.
Sometimes I end up reading twelve sources because somebody on the internet confidently suggested putting vinegar somewhere vinegar absolutely should not go.
What the Site Covers
How to Clean Something covers several closely related parts of home life:
Cleaning and Home Care
Cleaning methods, stains, laundry, appliances, surfaces, household smells and routine maintenance.
Organization
Closets, kitchens, garages, children’s spaces, household systems, storage and realistic decluttering.
DIY and Furniture Projects
Simple furniture builds, IKEA hacks, furniture transformations, painting, wallpapering and other approachable projects.
Interiors and Decorating
Room layouts, color, furniture choices, decor, lighting and practical ways to make rooms feel more complete.
Outdoor Home
Patios, outdoor furniture, backyard organization, simple garden-related projects and creating outdoor spaces people actually use.
The connecting idea is the home itself.
I am not interested in chasing unrelated lifestyle topics simply because they happen to be popular.
A Final Note
The aim of How to Clean Something is not to help you create a perfect home.
I am not convinced such a thing exists once people move into it.
I want to help you make your home cleaner, easier to manage, better organized and more like somewhere you genuinely want to spend time.
And occasionally convince you that the ugly cabinet does not need replacing.
It needs paint.
